Rooibos

Rooibos, or redbush tea, is a caffeine-free, red-colored, and flavorful infusion. Rooibos tea is a misleading name as it does not come from the actual tea plant. It is an herbal tea that can be brewed and enjoyed in the same way as tea. The South African redbush (Aspalathus Linearis) thrives in nutrient-poor soil where other plants do not. It has long been used locally as a beverage infusion and seasoning. Since then, it has gained widespread popularity, particularly due to its high antioxidant content and lack of caffeine. Its pleasant taste also adds to its popularity. The harvest of Rooibos, originally growing wild and now also cultivated, is collected between December and June. It is produced both unoxidized, i.e., green, and more commonly oxidized, which gives it a beautiful red color.
