Ceylon, Sri Lanka, produces relatively little green tea. The excellent Ceylon Melfort green tea comes from the Pussselwa Valley, from the Melfort tea estate, with plantations extending up to almost 2000 meters. The leaf of Ceylon Melfort is large, coarse, and rather loosely twisted.
The flavor is strong, with a balanced combination of fruitiness and aromatic character. The mouthfeel is intense and lingering, with a delicate acidity. The leaf is dark olive in color. Ceylon Melfort's bouquet somewhat resembles the character of Chardonnay wine. Ceylon Melfort is an excellent choice in terms of price-quality ratio. The tea bushes are inherited from ancient Chinese tea culture.
Brewing time 2-3 minutes, brewing temperature 75-80 °C, and dosage 1 teaspoon per cup or 4-5 teaspoons per liter.
