China Gunpowder

China Gunpowder tea is the most well-known Chinese green tea, especially from the Zhejiang region south of Shanghai. The tea's rather tightly rolled leaves resemble small pellets, from which the name Gunpowder originates. When steeped, the rolled leaves unfurl. Gunpowder has a very strong, somewhat bitter, tart, and smoky flavor. Gunpowder can be steeped multiple times, which mellows and softens its flavor. According to a Chinese saying, Gunpowder reveals its true nature and soul when the tea leaves are steeped a second time.

Steeping time 1-3 minutes, water temperature 75-80 degrees Celsius, dosage 1 teaspoon per cup or 4-5 teaspoons per liter.
