Japan Gabalong is cultivated in the Shizuoka region of Japan. Japan Gabalong was originally developed by a Japanese tea product development institute. "Gaba" refers to gamma-aminobutyric acid, a calming substance for the nervous system that instructs nerve cells to reduce or cease bodily functions that are harmful to the organism. "Long" refers to the word Oolong.
In Japan, Gabalong tea has been used, for example, in the treatment of high blood pressure. The Gaba content of the tea can be increased by adding nitrogen to the tea leaves and allowing the nitrogen to act for less than 24 hours. Gabalong consists of dark, large, and relatively narrow tea leaves. When brewed, the drink has a robust, dominant flavor and a long aftertaste.
Brewing time 1-3 minutes, water temperature 75-80 degrees Celsius, dosage 1 teaspoon per cup or 4-5 teaspoons per liter.
