Gyokuro is Japan's most prized tea, considered one of the best teas in the world. Organic Gyokuro is often called "precious dew." Approximately 3 weeks before the tea is harvested, the entire cultivation is covered with a shading net or bamboo mats. Tea that develops in the shade has a very low tannin content, but on the other hand, a very high caffeine content, meaning it's highly invigorating. The beautiful, uniform leaf is dark green and quite glossy on the surface. The taste is smooth, aromatic, and strong, with a slight sweetness as an aftertaste. The leaves can be steeped multiple times. Recommended food pairings include seafood and sushi.
Steeping time 1-3 minutes, water temperature 60-80 degrees Celsius, dosage 1 teaspoon/cup or 4-5 teaspoons per liter.
